Pata Durga made with water colours
The Mandals of Suri in Birbhum have been celebrating Durga pujo for more than a century now. This year, 70-year-old Jaladhar Mandal, who is also a family member is making a 5-ft tall Pata Durga from just paper and paints.
With a width of 4ft, this durga is painted on a paper pata with water colours. After the painting is done, the pata will be decorated with exquisite ‘shola work.’ Since, it is made of paper, the idol cannot be immersed but will be preserved for future.
