CM Mamata Banerjee converts a whole stadium to Quarantine centre!

Amidst the COVID-19 Menace and a Lockdown in Kolkata and several districts of West Bengal, the state government has also taken an unprecedented initiative to increase isolation wards and quarantine centres. This is keeping in mind that the spread of the virus and infected or suspected patients can be many in number in the days to come. If you do not act now, you can be in a serious situation later. And chief minister Hon’ble Mamata Banerjee has always been very decisive taking swift decisions. Within just 2 days she has converted a stadium in Dumurjola into a 150-bed quarantine centre.

ID Hospital Beleghata has 22 isolation beds that will now be increased to 100. At the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, a 50-bed isolation ward will be set up on a temporary basis in the newly constructed night shelter for relatives of patients. The state government is also using the nearly complete Cancer Hospital as Rajarhat as a super-speciality quarantine centre. At MR Bangur Hospital in South Kolkata, there will be another 150 beds ready in a separate isolation ward. 

Apart from setting up isolation wards and quarantine facilities, the state government is in the process of acquiring 300 ventilators, of which 70 have arrived. Setting up such wards on an emergency war like turn around time, is definitely a task that West Bengal government has been successful in doing at this hour of crisis.
