Nobel Laureate Abhijit Banerji lands in Kolkata, look at his book launch

Good Economics for Hard Times, the prized book written by none other than two Nobel Laureates, the husband-wife duo Abhijit Banerji and Esther Duflo will be launched in Delhi next week. Many believe this book will answer to a large extent in very simple terms the various complexities that are plaguing the Indian economy today. Two Nobel winning economists show how economics, when done right, can help us solve the most difficult social and political problems of today.

Figuring out how to deal with today’s critical economic problems is perhaps the great challenge of our time. One needs to answer the economic slowdown too, specially the global trend that has badly impacted various sectors of Indian economy as well. Much greater than space travel or perhaps even the next revolutionary medical breakthrough, what is at stake is the whole idea of the good life, where the poor of India will have a hand in increasing the demand of the nation.

Apart from micro level, there are various concerns like immigration and inequality, globalization and technological disruption, slowing growth and accelerating climate change all across the globe. These issues have a direct or indirect impact on economy as well. In the revolutionary book, renowned MIT economists Abhijit Banerji and Esther Duflo take on this challenge, building on cutting-edge research in economics explaining tough situations and policies in a simple manner. It is believed across the literary and economic circles that Good Economics for Hard Times will help readers to appreciate and understand how to balance difficulties that plague the world today.
