Sister Nivedita’s letters released as a book

Ramkrishna Mission recently released a revised and enlarged edition of letters that Sister Nivedita wrote in the thirteen years of her life she spent working in India. Nivedita, born as Margaret Elizabeth Noble was working in London as a school teacher when she met Swamiji for the first time in 1895. Drawn by his exposition of religion and philosophy, she came to India in 1898. In the next 13 years, she wrote numerous letters to princes, politicians, businessmen, newspaper editors, poets and scientists of eminence. The 886 letters presented in two volumes tell the story of her love and sacrifice for the land that she lovingly adopted.

The letters reveal unknown and startling facts even about the British rule under Lord Curzon, Minto and Hardinge.
