Bengal Business Conclave starts at Bengal’s revamped sea town of Digha

Bengal Business Conclave, the 2-day global business meet that started at Digha today, is not just a business meet of global businessmen, but is also a scenic extravaganza. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is keen to showcase Bengal as not just a business destination, but also as a potential tourist destination as it has all the possibilities of turning itself as a hotspot on the global tourist map. Digha, Tajpur, Mandarmani and Shankarpur will be showcased at the Business Conclave to give a boost to the local economy too as these sea towns heavily depend on tourism as a revenue earner.

The state government has already come up with a world-class convention centre on the shores of Bay of Bengal, named as ‘Dighashree.’ Business delegates from 15 countries have joined the meet this year with 1500 businessmen participating. Digha has got a new look and hoardings and collages are highlighting the life of the local fishermen community to bring their tales to a bigger audience and how fisheries have also developed into a potential industry along this seashore. In the evening there will be performances by locals on the shores along with inauguration of a theme park in the area. It is expected that the government will declare the start of the international port at Tajpur too.
