On the eve of Makar Sankranti
Faith is all encompassing. It is present in every aspect of our lives. Faith can lead people to leave all the earthly comforts and just devote their body and soul to the almighty. A coalescence of faith can be witnessed around the Ganges, the holy river, where people from different corners of the country come together to take a dip in the holy water with a heart full of devotion. Different sadhus (ascetics) camp around the Ganges on the eve of Makar Shankranti. Sadhus have a unique way of life and perspectives on the meaning of life. Suranjana Mitra travels to the Gangasagar camps on the eve of Makar Sankranti to meet the Sadhus and watch their colourful lives.
