Bengal’s rifle factory makes first indigenous sniper

Story image

Special units of commandos in police forces will now get a chance to use sniper rifles ‘Made in Bengal.’ So long they were trained with snipers imported from Germany or Russia like those made by Heckler and Koch and they would cost three times of those made by the Rifle Factory of Ishapore near Nawabgunj of Bengal.

This is the first time that a sniper rifle has been developed in India through inhouse research and development and commandos of Kolkata police, CRPF and also Indo-Tibetan Border police forces are using it on trial to find what more changes can be brought about to make them better.
