Bengal’s Aihika scripts history at Commonwealth Table Tennis Games

We have so long heard of Monica Batra, India’s reigning queen of Table Tennis. But the Commonwealth Table Tennis saw a new rising star, Bengal’s Aihika Mukherjee who went on to become the first Indian woman to win a gold in singles event. The games is being organized in Cuttack and has players from all across the South-East Asian countries, specially with strong contenders from Indonesia and Singapore.

However both men and women players have played phenomenally well and have already won 7 gold medals. Incidentally due to fever, Monica could not play in the singles and everyone was curious to find if any other female player fills in her gap. Aihika did so. In semifinals she had defeated England’s Ho Tin Tin and in the finals she defeated India’s Madhurika Patker.
